On Multirate Digital Redesign of Analog Controllers

In this paper, optimal digital redesign is studied within the framework of sampled-data control theory. In particular, multirate discretization of analog controllers is considered using an H 2 or H 1 optimality criterion. Solutions are obtained via multirate H 2 or H 1 optimization with a causality constraint due to the multirate structure. In two design examples studied , comparison of the proposed methods is made with the conventional discretization methods, generalized to the multirate setting.
